    ASB 2008: Shenandoah National Park

    The GT Trailblazers 2008 Virginia ASB Program teamed up with the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC) for a number of trail maintenance projects on the Appalachian Trail (AT). PATC volunteer staff led 12 GT Trailblazers’ participants for this four-day environmental service project in the Shenandoah National Park of northern Virginia. Participants spent the final three days of the program hiking in the Shenandoah National Park.

  • Digging away!

    ASB 2008: San Diego, CA

    In March 2008, Trailblazers teamed up with the Pacific Crest Trail Association for a trail construction project on the Pacific Crest Trail in the San Bernandino National Forest of southern California. Participants spent four days building trail, a day surfing, and three days backpacking on the Pacific Crest Trail.

    ASB 2008: St. Marks Wildlife Refuge

    In March 2008, Trailblazers teamed up with the Florida National Scenic Trail Association to work on improving back-country campsites along the Florida Trail. Following four days of service work along the Florida Trail, participants spent three days canoeing 34 miles on the upper Suwannee River.

    ASB 2007: Harpers Ferry, WV

    In March 2007, the first ever Trailblazers Alternative Spring Break program teamed up with the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club to install 600 lb. granite steps on a steep and treacherous section of the Appalachian Trail. Participants spent the final three days of the program backpacking a 25 mile section of the Appalachian Trail in southern Maryland.
